Surrey Stars continue to remain unbeaten in the Kia Super League 2017 as they bagged their 4th successive victory with a 52-run win over Western Storm at The Oval. Lancashire went down for the 4th time in a row as they lost to the Southern Vipers by 6 wickets at Liverpool. Here is the round-up of match 11 and 12 of KSL 2017.

Surrey Stars vs Western Storm:

Claire Nicholas trapped Tammy Beaumont on the very first ball of the game after Western Strom elected to bowl first. But the South African pair Lizelle Lee and Marizanne Kapp rescued Surrey twice in two games with a crucial stand for the 2nd wicket. As the innings went further, Lee turned on to be dangerous hitting some big shots.

She raised her fifty in 38 balls and followed it with three sixes in a space of four balls off Heather Knight but got out in pursuit of the 4th maximum of the over. She scored 72 off just 44 balls with seven fours and six sixes putting on a 103-run stand in 11.5 overs with Kapp. Captain Natalie Sciver hit an 18-ball 30 while Kapp scored a run-a-ball 48 to push Surrey stars to 169/6, their highest total in KSL history.

Racheal Priest and Knight started off the chase by scoring 26 runs in the first two overs but Sciver and Kapp picking up two wickets each in their first two overs left Western Storm in all sort of troubles. The 59-run stand for the 6th wicket between Georgia Hennessy and Alice Macleod could only reduce the margin of the result as they were bowled out for 117.

Brief Scores:

Surrey Stars: 169/6 in 20 overs (Lizelle Lee 72, Marizanne Kapp 48; Claire Nicholas 3/20)

Western Storm: 117/10 in 19.3 overs (Alice Macleod 30, Georgia Hennessy 28; Natalie Sciver 3/11, Alex Hartley 3/28)

Surrey Stars won by 52 runs

Lancashire Thunder vs Southern Vipers:

Lancashire’s decision to bat proved worthy as Linsey Smith picked up three wickets in her first three overs dismissing Emma Lamb, Evelyn Jones and Amy Satterthwaite. Hayley Matthews dismissed Sarah Taylor for just one to leave Lancashire Thunder reeling at 10/4. The home side sank further as they were reduced to 57/8 in 17th over but their captain Danielle Hazell and Kate Cross added 30 runs in the last 23 balls to ensure their bowlers had something to defend. Hazell scored 37 off 39 balls hitting three sixes while Cross scored a 15-ball 19.

The Thunder side fancied their chances having reduced the Vipers to 41/4 but Danielle Wyatt ensured their team’s third victory this season without any further loss. Sharing a 46-run stand with Arran Brindle, Wyatt scored an unbeaten 46 in just 29 balls with seven fours and a six to finish off the chase with 31 balls to spare.

Brief Scores:

Lancashire Thunder: 87/10 in 20 overs (Danielle Hazell 37; Linsey Smith 3/16)

Southern Vipers: 88/4 in 14.5 overs (Danielle Wyatt 46*; Sophie Ecclestone 2/19)

Southern Vipers won by 6 wickets
