A stupendous performance from Team India led host to suffer a humiliating loss the other night and are in all sorts of trouble as the head for the fourth one-day International. In the first three matches, skipper Virat Kohli and his troops have been able to outclass the opposition in most obnoxious manner, helping themselves to take an unassailable lead of 3-0 in the ‘momentum’ one-day series.
Injuries have been a part and parcel of the sport of cricket but coming at a time where it could have a great impact on a team’s performance was the last thing Proteas wanted. With few big names already got sidelined due to several injuries, the task to square the series is on the stand-in skipper Aiden Markram’s shoulders. He believes that Indian Team has been able to dominate in first three games and also credited Virat’s knocks, with appreciating the spin duo, Yuzvendra Chahal, and Kuldeep Yadav.
World Class bowlers- Chahal and Kuldeep
Speaking in the post-match presentation, he said, “Very disappointing. Yet again not up to the mark. Virat played beautifully and their spinners played a massive part again. But we managed to claw our way back. They are world class spinners. Our batsmen are struggling to pick their spinners even after three games. They are landing the ball in the right areas more often than not.”
AB de Villiers who hasn’t participated in the series so far is expected to join men-in-green for the all-important fourth Pink one-day International which is scheduled to take place on 10th February at the New Wanderers Stadium in Johannesburg. Aiden Markram believes that his comeback will act as a morale booster for the team and can well level the series with his inputs on the ground.
“Credit to them. If ABD would be back, it might serve as a massive inspiration,” he concluded.
