After three Tests, Kuldeep Yadav, the Chinaman bowler, was a part of India’s 18-man squad ever since the first Test but didn’t get an opportunity. However, bearing in mind the fact that off-spinner Ravi Ashwin didn’t get fit and the nature of track at the Sydney Cricket Ground (SCG), the 24-year-old was included in the playing eleven for the final Test to partner left-arm spinner Ravindra Jadeja.

And the Uttar Pradesh-bowler didn’t disappoint by any stretch of the imagination. The left-arm bowler opened his account with the wicket of Usman Khawaja. Then he removed Travis Head for 20 runs after the batter put on a stand of 40 runs with Peter Handscomb, who made a comeback in the Aussie lineup after being excluded for the third Test at the iconic Melbourne Cricket Ground (MCG).

Kuldeep picks up his third wicket

In the meantime, Kuldeep also picked up the Aussie skipper in Tim Paine, also the wicketkeeper-batsman. Paine was in with a massive responsibility of bailing his team out with a substantial score under his belt. However, the Tasmania-born couldn’t make an impact and could only score five runs from 14 balls with one boundary. It was also the sixth Australian wicket to fall in the 69th over.

Kuldeep bowled from around the wicket and gave the leather a fair amount of flight. The red cherry pitched a tad outside the off-stump and spun in sharply. The ball also dipped on the batsman a tad Paine didn’t have much of an idea about it and he went for a half-hearted drive. His left foot wasn’t near to the ball either. Hence, the ball snuck through the bat and pad and crashed into the stumps.

Paine’s head went down in sheer disappointment after the dismissal. Kuldeep raised his hands in ecstasy and showed his jubilation. He knew the significance of the wicket. The spinner was arguably India’s best bowler of the day as he ended with stupendous figures of 24-6-71-3.
