England are preparing for the second T20I of the series against India and one certain problem that was exposed in the first match is their skill to deal with spin. India’s Kuldeep Yadav ran through the English batting line-up as he foxed the likes of Alex Hales, Eoin Morgan, Joe Root as well as Jos Buttler all the batsmen who are expected to make a difference for the home team.

All the most prominent batters failed to read his line and had no idea how to decipher the chinaman who controlled the proceedings in the middle overs. Yadav’s third over which was the 14th of the match produced 3 wickets for Team India and crushed any chances of the hosts who were aiming for a huge total. He finished his spell with figures of 5/24. In the end, their innings ended on 159/8. The Indians chased it down in 18.2 overs with 8 wickets in hand.

Kuldeep completely deceived us

Ahead of the second encounter, English captain Eoin Morgan admitted that Kuldeep ‘completely deceived’ them. “He completely deceived us, and I thought he bowled well. We know we can do better – so we need to. Kuldeep bowled well. Between now and the next game, we need to assess our plans, make sure they’re the right ones, and stick with them,” Morgan was quoted as saying by Sports24.

The motto of this England team is to counterattack. They aren’t bothered by fall of wickets and every man who walks in next knows what he is supposed to do. However, skipper Morgan wants the batters to spend some time in the middle, understand the pace of the wicket and that will give them the best chance to deal with Kuldeep and all other bowlers.

“The more time you spend at the crease, the better you see the ball. You go from sitting in the dug-out to match pace, when a guy is three overs into his spell, it is going to be different. That’s the hardest part about batting – starting – (so) ‘face more deliveries off him’,” he said.

The second T20I between England and India will be played in Cardiff on July 6.
