Indian team is training hard in England with the hope of creating history by becoming the first team to win 3 ICC Champions Trophies. They out-classed their formidable opponent New Zealand on the first warm-up match. They will take on Bangladesh on Tuesday for their 2nd and last warm-up match before the main tournament begins. But a new controversy has hit the joyous dressing room.

The relation between skipper Virat Kohli and coach Anil Kumble is not very sound at the moment. Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) had invited applications for the role of Head Coach of the Indian team. They are not ready to fulfil Kumble’s demands of Rs.7.5 crores per year salary package. But there is a different reason why India’s talisman skipper is not happy with Anil Kumble.

Kumble wanted to give Kuldeep Yadav a chance, Kohli was against it

Let us go back to the month of February this year when the Australians visited India for a Test series. They won the first Test quite comprehensively but India fought back in the second Test. The third and penultimate Test was important for both the teams. Anil Kumble wanted to field the young left-arm chinaman spinner Kuldeep Yadav in the playing XI.

But Kohli was in no mood to do so. He rejected to work according to the coach’s command and decided to go without Kuldeep. The match ultimately ended in a draw and Kumble was left bewildered. He was desperate to field Yadav for the last match as Kohli was injured. But reportedly, the Indian skipper never wanted to give Yadav a chance at such a crucial stage.

But Kumble’s decision was justified as Yadav took 4 wickets in his debut Test and India won the match. “This may or may not be the reason. But we believe the people in the corridors of power have been told that Kumble is overbearing and doesn’t give freedom to the players. It’s sad that aspersions are cast on a legend of Indian cricket,” said a BCCI official to The Hindu. The board is now trying to settle all disputes before the start of the elite tournament.
