Mohammed Shami has been yielding praises from every corner of the country for his unbelievable bowling against South Africa in the first Test. Shami made his debut for Team India in 2013, but due to injury-prone body, he remained in and out of the team. In the last couple of years, he has left his strenuous days behind and has turned himself into a first choice bowler of the national squad.
Shami registered five scalps to his name in Vishakhapatnam Test. In the first innings of the match, the Bengal pacer went wicketless, but nevertheless he reimbursed his wicket-taker tally by the end of the second innings and now Virat Kohli has come down with his opinion over the transformation Shami has brought in his game recently.
In a press conference ahead of the 2nd Test, when Virat was asked about his opinion over the 29-year old pacer. He feels that now Shami is a responsible individual who knows when to bowl, how to bowl long spells and there is a pang of hunger in him that is helping him out to take wickets, “Now, he (Shami) is taking the responsibility. We don’t need to push Shami anymore. We don’t need to tell him ‘come on, you need to bowl this spell for us’. He wants the ball, he understands the situation when he’s given the ball,” Indian skipper told during his press conference.
Kohli responds on Kuldeep Yadav’s exclusion
Shami is going through a good run in his career but there is another Indian player Kuldeep Yadav who has been excluded from the playing XI and when Kohli was put down a question over Yadav’s exclusion. The Indian skipper recited that there is nothing to discuss over it and Kuldeep knows why he is kept out of the team as in India the chances will be given to Ashwin and Jadeja based on their performance along with their ability to contribute with the bat.
“No one is self-centered and everyone is thinking about what I can do for the team. It’s the same about Kuldeep. He understands that in India, Ashwin and Jadeja will be our first choices because they give us so much more with the bat as well.” he added.
Team India is currently preparing for the 2nd Test of their home season against South Africa and it is going to place in Pune starting on 10th October 2019.
