Kumar Sangakkara delighted to play alongside Imran Tahir
The former Sri Lankan wicketkeeper-batsman has been a revelation for the Multan Sultans this year.
Kumar Sangakkara had been among Sri Lanka’s most efficient cricketer to have ever played the game. He retired from international cricket after the 2015 Cricket World Cup Down Under where emerged as the first batsman to score four centuries in the tournament. Thereafter, he played for Surrey, notched five centuries in a season and then bowed out of first-class cricket as well. However, the wicket-keeper batsman has ever since been plying his trade in T20 leagues across the globe.
The Matale-born cricketer is currently playing for the Multan Sultans in the Pakistan Super League (PSL). He is also teammates with Imran Tahir who has recently become as the third bowler in the history of the tournament after Mohammed Amir and Junaid Khan to rack up hat-tricks. The former Sri Lankan recently spoke to the media and expressed his delight of playing alongside the South African leggie.
Tahir- One of the best
“The way Imran Tahir bowls it shows the quality of the man and why he is considered one of the best bowlers in the shorter format of the game. It’s just his control, his awareness, and the fact that he gives everything. It’s a pleasure to play with him.” Sangakkara was quoted as saying by the Dawn in a recent interaction with the media.
The former Sri Lankan also hailed the domestic league as one of the best in the world “Some of the best international players are playing alongside great young talent from Pakistan, and the seniors are there too. I think it is one the best leagues out there.” He added. Sangakkara has recently been in exemplary touch and is currently the leading run-scorer in the series with 177 runs in five games at an average of 59. The Sultans are currently at the top of the league table with three wins from five matches.
