Kings XI Punjab pacer Shardul Thakur is certainly largely unimpressed with the current edition of the IPL. His disappointment can be attributed to the fact that Shardul Thakur has been benched by his franchise this season so far.
Despite Kings XI Punjab not doing great in this season, the Mumbai pacer has not been given an opportunity to play. Kings XI Punjab are languishing at the bottom of the points table at the moment and have won just 2 matches.
Shardul Thakur took to twitter to express his sadness and mocked the IPL sarcastically saying the tournament surely does help the youngsters. He also mentioned that he is about to turn up for his club side for a match since he is not expecting Kings XI Punjab to be giving him a look in. He tweeted, “Will play a semifinal t20 game tomorrow for my club payyade sc..playing a game after 2 months..ipl has done wonders .. Certainly”
The 25 year old Mumbai pacer played a crucial role in Mumbai’s 41st Ranji Trophy triumph as he picked up 41 wickets at an average of 24.51. Picking up eight wickets in the final against Saurashtra, Thakur finished as the sixth highest wicket-taker in the tournament. The 2016 performance was no surprise as Shardul was one of the most consistent bowlers for Mumbai in the last three Ranji seasons. In the 2014-15 season, Shardul was the joint highest wicket-taker with 48 wickets at 20.81.
Shardul Thakur has got very limited opportunities in the IPL. Last year too, he didn’t get as many chances as he would have liked.
