The second match of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2022 is being played between five-time champions Mumbai Indians (MI) and strong-looking Delhi Capitals (DC). The Capitals skipper Rishabh Pant after winning the toss opted to bowl first on a wicket that is looking flat at the Brabourne Stadium, Mumbai.

The Capitals have gone with three pacers in Khaleel Ahmed, Shardul Thakur, and Kamlesh Nagarkoti. In spin department, Axar Patel, Kuldeep Yadav and Lalit Yadav have been included in the playing XI. Much to the surprise of many fans, DC did not include the left-arm-pacer Chetan Sakariya in their playing XI for the game. The 24-year-old could have been a vital performer for his side and was expected to make it to the XI.

Chetan Sakariya was bagged by DC at a whopping cost of INR 4.20 crore

To note, Chetan Sakariya was purchased by the Capitals at a whopping cost of INR 4.20 crore in the IPL 2022 mega auction. The 24-year-old had placed himself under a base price of INR 50 lakhs. The left-arm-pacer had a dream year in 2021. He got an IPL contract from former champions Rajasthan Royals and impressed everyone with his effective left-arm pace bowling and his Wakanda celebration.

After impressing everyone with his effective bowling, Sakariya got a national call-up for the Sri Lanka tour and he made both his ODI and T20I debuts for India. Talking about his numbers in IPL, Chetan Sakariya has played 14 games for Rajasthan in last season and picked 14 wickets at a bowling average of 30.43.

His economy rate was on a higher side at 8.19, but the 24-year-old bowls tough overs, apart from swinging the ball with the new cherry. The young pacer has represented India in one ODI and two T20Is in which he has scalped a total of three wickets. Sakariya would like to perform well in this IPL edition to make a case for himself in the upcoming 2022 T20 World Cup in Australia.
