Lahiru Thirimanne and Wahab Riaz post videos on Twitter having tea; Pakistan fans think they are mocking India

Pakistan is all set to host Sri Lanka in the three-match ODI series starting on Friday in Karachi. With international cricket returning to the country, there is an air of excitement among Pakistan fans and even the cricketers from both the teams are not wasting any opportunity in promoting the game. Accordingly, Sri Lanka captain Lahiru Thirimanne and Wahab Riaz exchanged pleasantries on Twitter which hasn’t gone down well with the Indian fans.

Thirimanne first posted the video in which he expressed his excitement and also cleared that Sri Lanka will play as good cricket as their Tea. Wahab, in response, also posted a video while having tea and hilariously responded to his Lankan counterpart while accepting the challenge.

However, the players having tea in the video has led to Pakistan fans presuming that the duo was trolling India and Abhinandan Varthaman.

Incident dates back to February 2019

Earlier this year, after the Pulwama attack, the tensions had escalated between India and Pakistan across the border. India also responded with the Indian Air Force (IAF) destroying the terror camps in Balochistan in a surgical strike. This followed repeated attacks from both the sides across the border and during the same, the IAF pilot Abhinandan Varthaman who was flying a MiG-21 entered into Pakistan territory after being struck by a missile.

Abhinandan was with Pakistan Army after the incident and a video was circulated on social media where he was deemed to be safe and having tea. “Tea is fantastic,” he had said in the video with Pakistan also making a similar commercial mocking Abhinandan ahead of the marquee clash between the arch-rivals in the World Cup 2019.

Coming back to the videos posted by Lahiru Thirimanne and Wahab Riaz while having tea has led to Pakistan fans recalling the incident. It seems that both the players had no intention of doing the same.
