Lasith Malinga’s cricket career in numbers: Over the years, Slinga Malinga has stamped his authority in international cricket as one of the most venomous fast bowlers. With a round-arm action and unorthodox bowling stance, his ball’s trajectory is extremely hard to pick up. But all this unique unorthodox virtues would have gone waste if he didn’t have the skills of a lethal pacer which makes him a class apart. Malinga’s destructive toe-crushing Yorkers have been a matter of devilish nightmares for the batters.

Lasith also has a very deceptive bouncer in his armor and on occasions he uses his slower deliveries to outfox the batsman who are unable to predict what is coming next. When it comes to variations, his aptness at executing them with utmost accuracy makes him a tough nut to crack.

4 – Number of wickets Malinga took in 4 consecutive balls in 2007 World Cup against South Africa. He is the only bowler in international cricket to take 4 wickets in 4 balls.

3 – The number of Hat-tricks taken by Malinga in ODI cricket. It is the most number of Hat-tricks taken by any player in ODI cricket.

2 – The number of Hat-tricks taken by Lasith Malinga in World Cup cricket which is the most by any player in World Cup history. His first Hat-trick came against South Africa in World Cup 2007 while the second one came in World Cup 2011 against Kenya.

132 – The pair of Lasith Malinga and Angelo Mathews holds the record for highest 9th wicket partnership in ODI’s. They had added 132 runs against Australia in Melbourne in 2010.

253 – The number of wickets Malinga has taken since 2007 in ODI’s. He is the leading wicket-taker in ODI’s since 2007 with 253 scalps in 165 matches.

70 – The number of wickets taken by Slinga Malinga in T20I cricket. Malinga is the 4th highest wicket-taker in T20 internationals.

291 – The number of wickets he has taken T-20 cricket. It is the most number of wickets by any bowler in T20s. He has played 218 matches and has taken 291 wickets at a miserly economy of 6.71

143 – The number of wickets taken by Slinga Malinga in Indian Premiere League (IPL). He is the highest wicket-taker in IPL history.
