South Africa batter Laura Wolvaardt has claimed the top spot in ICC Women’s ODI rankings, displacing Australia’s Alyssa Healy. The top-scorer at the ongoing Women’s World Cup in New Zealand, Woolvardt, with five half-centuries in seven innings, has been in prime form, helping her team to qualify for the semi-finals.
England’s Sophie Ecclestone, the leading wicket-taker at the World Cup (14), and Australia’s Ellyse Perry continue to occupy the top spots for bowlers and all-rounders, respectively. Further, Australian Jess Jonassen is second in the bowlers’ rankings, followed by South Africa’s Shabnim Ismail at three. Ismail moved up one spot thanks to her 11-wicket tally at the World Cup, while Megan Schutt has slipped down to fourth.
Meanwhile, for batters, Beth Mooney retained her second place, while Australia skipper Meg Lanning is third, followed by England’s Nat Sciver at fourth. Veteran India batter Mithali Raj climbed up three spots to No. 6 after her 68-run knock against South Africa in a heart-breaking loss that led to her team’s exit from the tournament. Her teammate Smriti Mandhana occupies the tenth position.
In the all-rounder ranks, topped by Perry, England’s Katherine Brunt moved up two spots to ninth, while veteran India pacer Jhulan Goswami slid down one spot to tenth. Pakistan’s Nida Dar jumped four spots to 12th after her 118 runs and 10 wickets at the World Cup, whereas Bangladesh’s Salma Khatun rose to 19th, marking a jump of seven places. Meanwhile, Goswami is the lone Indian bowler to feature in the top ten.
