The ultimate clash of the Legends League Cricket 2022 saw action unfolding between Asian Lions and World Giants at Al Amerat Cricket Ground wherein the latter walked away with the title by winning the clash by 25 runs. Kevin Pietersen, who wreaked havoc in the last game as well gave a flying start to his team with his 22-ball 48. However, Corey Anderson turned out to be the man under the spotlight today as his fiery 94 off 43 deliveries pushed his side to breach the massive 250-run mark. Anderson remained on the crease till the end and the rest of the contribution was chipped in by Brad Haddin and Darren Sammy who added 37 and 38 runs respectively.
All the bowlers from the Lions’ end were taken to cleaners by the Giants’ batters wherein Nuwan Kulasekara got three wickets under his belt. The target was already massive for the batters to unfold their game and it started getting the better of Lions’ batters eventually. Tillakaratne Dilshan and Sanath Jayasuriya gave a fine start with their 25 and 38 respectively but it was certainly not enough in front of a gigantic target.
Here is how Twitter reacted to the game
Next in line was Upul Tharanga who added 25 runs to the tally. Mohammad Yousuf’s 39 off 21 was the brightest spot in the Lions’ batting set up but even that couldn’t be enough in front of the massive target. Kulasekara who picked three wickets also played a blinder at the end while adding 17 off six balls.
The run tally for Lions got wrapped up on 231 runs and it could have been a successful chase for them had a batter in the middle played a long-standing knock. Albie Morkel picked three wickets for his side and had the best economy to offer on the day from Giants’ bowling artillery.
