Legends League Cricket 2022: COVID-19 surge pushes tournament behind closed doors

The Legends League Cricket 2022 is in full swing at the moment and has left passionate cricket fans glued to their seats with some entertaining performances from the retired greats of the game in the last few days. While the spectators have made the occasion electrifying with their presence, the tournament organizers now have some bad news for people who wish to throng into the stadiums in large numbers to enjoy the games.

Due to a surge in COVID-19 cases and also abiding by the government rules, the organizers have decided that the remainder of the tournament will be taking place behind closed doors.

Taking to their official Twitter handle, the Legends League Cricket have declared that due to a sudden spike in coronavirus cases and government regulation, they have decided to put a hold on the ticket sales and the matches will be held without the spectators with immediate effect. At the same time, they have also apologized to the fans for any kind of inconvenience caused due to this.

In another tweet, the LLC also assured that they will be refunding back the money for all tickets purchased. Furthermore, it was also clarified that all the ticket holders would be sent information on their refunds through their respective ticketing platforms. The Legends League Cricket Team concluded by saying that the amount will be initiated within 7-10 working days.

The nine-day tournament has so far witnessed some action-packed performances as well as edge-of-the-seat thrillers. All the participating teams- India Maharajas, Asia Lions, and World Giants have played two games each and have registered both wins as well as losses in both games. While the inaugural edition of the tournament consists of the cricketing legends and icons across the globe, Master Blaster Sachin Tendulkar & legendary captain MS Dhoni who were originally a part of the competition backed out at the last moment due to unknown reasons.

All the matches are taking place at Oman Cricket Stadium and the final will be played this Saturday. It remains to be seen which two teams will make it to the summit clash.
