List of batsmen who scored centuries on World cup debut: Scoring a century on World cup debut is one of such things, that a batsman can do to put his name in the World cup records books. Aaron Finch became the 14th batsman to score a century on his World cup debut, when he scored 135 runs against England in the second match of 2015 World cup.

World cup is the biggest stage of them all for a cricketer to showcase his skills with the bat and the ball. There is nothing more memorable to make your World cup debut is to perform excellently that you leave your mark in the annals of World cup history.

There are previous instances of players making a century on World cup debuts. England’s Dennis Amiss was the first to do so, that too in the very first match of the very first World cup in 1975 against India at Lord’s ground. Since then, apart from the 1979 and the 1999 editions, we have seen one or two players making tons on their debut.

The most number of centuries on debut came in the 2003 edition when as much as 3 batsmen scored centuries on World Cup debut. South Africa’s Gary Kirsten holds the record for the highest score on World cup debut with his unbeaten 188 against UAE in the 1996 World cup. India has Virat Kohli in the list, making his mark in the previous edition on 2011 scoring a ton against Bangladesh in the tournament opener.
