List of players from CSK and RR for IPL 2016 auction

The trading window (for buying players left free by other franchises) took place today at Mumbai. After the addition of the two new franchises Rajkot and Pune into the Indian Premier League (IPL), the players went under the hammer today. The two new franchises were added after the Chennai Super Kings and the Rajasthan Royals were suspended from the IPL by the Honorable Supreme Court of India, on the recommendations of the Justice Lodha Committee that was appointed to investigate the corruption scandal of 2013.

Each of the two franchises had the opportunity to pick 5 players from the released draft, and the remaining would head for the auctions. The auctions would be held on 6th February next year.

The main attractions at the players draft were Indian ODI captain MS Dhoni, batsman Suresh Raina, Ajinkya Rahane, Ravichandran Ashwin and all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja.

The Pune franchise successfully picked Dhoni for 12.5 crores while his former Chennai Super Kings teammate Suresh Raina was the first player to be selected by Rajkot franchise.

The other four players chosen by Pune were Ajinkya Rahane, R Ashwin, Steven Smith, and Faf du Plessis. Rajkot chose Ravindra Jadeja, Brendon McCullum, James Faulkner, and Dwayne Bravo.

As per the tender for the two new teams, the first capped player would be paid Rs. 12.5 crores while the remaining four capped players are to get Rs. 9.5 crores, Rs. 7.5 crores, Rs. 5.5 crores, and Rs. 4 crores respectively. Uncapped players can be picked for a stipulated fee of Rs. 4 crores.

The ninth edition of the IPL is scheduled from April 9 to May 29, 2016.
