Bowlers have found it difficult to stop the flow of runs on most surfaces in the IPL, especially after the introduction of the Impact Player rule, which allows teams to use an extra batter in their lineups. However, this season, the BCCI has introduced a new rule to reduce the impact of dew—one of the biggest challenges for bowlers in the second innings.
After the 10th over in the second innings, umpires can decide to use a new ball if they feel that there is considerable dew on the ground.
In IPL 2024, the Purple Cap went to Harshal Patel, who bagged 24 wickets in 14 games. He joined Bhuvneshwar Kumar and Dwayne Bravo as the only bowlers to have won multiple Purple Caps.
Can Patel become the first bowler to win three Purple Caps, or will we see a new winner this time?
