The Indian vice-captain scored 119 in the 287-run chase on what seemed to be a tricky track. The Indian opener batted 128 balls for his 119 which included 8 fours and six maximums that extended his good record in Bangalore. Rohit shared a 69-run opening stand with KL Rahul while the 137-run partnership for the 2nd wicket with Virat Kohli turned the game into India’s hands.

In fact, Sachin and Rohit are the only openers with eight or more centuries in this format against an opponent as all their ODI tons against Australia came while opening the innings only.

Sachin Tendulkar and Virat Kohli have 20 and 19 tons respectively in India while Hashim Amla and Ricky Ponting scored 14 each in South Africa and Australia respectively.
