Rohit Sharma produced another blistering knock in the ODI format as the stand-in Indian skipper struck an unbeaten 208 in the 2nd ODI game in Mohali against Sri Lanka. The Indian opener recorded his 3rd double hundred in ODI cricket while the remaining 2398 players off this format collectively made only four double tons. Rohit’s innings helped India to post a huge total of 392/4 and register a comfortable victory with a compiled bowling performance.

2 – Rohit Sharma became the 2nd player to score a double hundred in ODI cricket as captain. Virender Sehwag scored 219 while leading India against Windies in 2011 in Indore’s Holkar Stadium.

3 – Number of double centuries in ODI cricket for Rohit Sharma. Four other players have scored one double ton each. These are also the most by any player in List A cricket. Surrey’s Alistair Brown (2) is the only other to Rohit with multiple List A double tons.

5 – Rohit’s 208* is his 5th score of 150 and more in ODI cricket which are the joint most for any player in this format. Sachin Tendulkar and David Warner are the other players with five scores of 150 and more in this format.

4 – Sharma’s four consecutive sixes off Suranga Lakmal (44th over) is the 2nd instance of an Indian hitting four consecutive sixes in an over in ODI cricket. Zaheer Khan also hit four consecutive sixes in Henry Olonga’s bowling in 2000.

12 – Rohit’s 12 sixes in his innings are the 2nd most by an Indian in an ODI innings behind his 16 sixes against Australia in 2013 in Bangalore. These 12 sixes are also the 2nd most for any captain in an ODI innings behind AB de Villiers’ 16 sixes against Windies in 2015 in Johannesburg. Previous most sixes in an ODI innings by an Indian captain are seven each by Sourav Ganguly against Bangladesh in 2000 and by Virender Sehwag during his 219 against Windies in 2011.

45 – Rohit Sharma’s 45 sixes in ODI cricket in 2017 are the most by an Indian in a calendar year. Sachin Tendulkar hit 42 sixes in ODI cricket in 1998. Only AB de Villiers (58 in 2017) and Shahid Afridi (48 in 2000) hit more ODI sixes in a year than Rohit.

53 – Number of sixes for Rohit in 2017 including 45 in ODI format. These are the most number of sixes hit by an Indian in a calendar year. He went past Sachin Tendulkar’s tally of 51 sixes in 1998.
