The youngest player to bag a 5-wicket haul on Test debut is Bangladesh’s Nayeem Hasan who was 17 years and 355 days old. He rewrote the record held by Pat Cummins (18y 193d in 2011) during last year’s home series. Prior to Nayeem and Cummins, this record was on the name of Shahid Afridi considering his year of birth as 1980. Afridi was 18 years and 235 days old when he picked up a 5-fer on his Test debut.

After slamming the fastest ton in the ODIs, Afridi took the Test format by storm. He tumbled a few records and one of them was to become the youngest to pick a five-fer. His leg-spinners weren’t easy for the batsmen to figure out and at his age of 18, many had termed him one of the best in the business.
