Tamim Iqbal finally put an end to his dry patch with the bat as he scored a record 136-ball 158 in the 2nd ODI against Zimbabwe. This was Tamim’s first ODI ton in nearly 20 months and first hundred in any format for Bangladesh after a year.

Iqbal raced to his fifty in only 42 balls but took 64 balls for the next 50 runs. Once he got to the triple digits, Tamim was on acceleration mode as his amassed 58 runs in his last 30 balls out of which he scored six fours and three sixes.

1 – Tamim Iqbal became the first player with a 150+ score on Bangladesh soil while playing for Bangladesh. The previous highest ODI score for Bangladesh in Bangladesh was 144 by Imrul Kayes also against Zimbabwe in 2018.

As many as three players before Tamim scored 150+ runs in an ODI inning on Bangladesh soil – 185* by Shane Watson (vs BAN, 2011), 183 by Virat Kohli (vs PAK, 2012) and 175 by Virender Sehwag (vs BAN, 2011).


2 – Tamim Iqbal now has scored a Test double ton, 150+ score in ODIs and a T20I century in Asia. He is only the 2nd player after Rohit Sharma with this treble in the Asian continent. Tamim is already one of the five players to achieve this treble in International cricket.


6 – Number of ODI hundreds for Tamim in Bangladesh; the most ODI tons for any player on Bangladesh soil going past Virat Kohli’s five tons. No other only player has more than three ODI hundreds in Bangladesh.


20 – The Bangladesh opener struck 20 fours during in this game which are now the most number of fours hit by a Bangladesh player in an ODI inning. The previous most number fours by a Bangladesh player in an ODI was 17 by Shahriar Nafees (123* vs Zimbabwe in CT 2006) and also by Tamim (116* vs Pakistan in 2015).


98 – He scored a total of 98 runs through boundaries in this match with the help of 20 fours and three sixes. These are the most runs coming through boundaries in an ODI inning for Bangladesh. Soumya Sarkar during his 127* against Pakistan in 2015 and Imrul Kayes during his 144 against Zimbabwe in 2018 scored 88 runs apiece via boundaries as both hit 13 fours and six maximums.


158 – Tamim Iqbal’s 158 is now the highest ODI individual score for Bangladesh surpassing his own 154 during the 2009 Bulawayo ODI also against Zimbabwe. No player from Bangladesh barring Tamim has recorded a 150+ score in ODI cricket.


1556 – Runs Tamim has amassed in the ODI format against Zimbabwe; the most ODI runs for any player against Zimbabwe. Tamim went past Chris Gayle’s 1549 runs with his 158-run knock. Tamim’s 1556 runs are also the most in BAN-ZIM ODI matches surpassing Shakib Al Hasan’s tally of 1404 runs.


7074 – Tamim went past 7000 runs in ODI cricket with his 12th century in this format. He is now the first player from Bangladesh to aggregate 7000 runs in the ODI format.


13139 – Tamim also completed 13000 runs in International cricket for Bangladesh during this game. Tamim has scored a total of 13196 runs in his International career which includes 57 runs for ICC World XI.


13157 – The first run that Tamim scored in this innings helped him to complete 13000 runs as an opener in International cricket. He is only the 10th player with 13000 International runs as an opener. Only once Tamim did not open the batting in his International career – 39 runs vs South Africa in the 2nd innings of the 2017 Potchefstroom Test match.
