Little girl gets hit on the head by a Sophie Devine six, cricketer comes up with a heartwarming gesture

There are certain moments that make a fan feel special. A young fan at Dunedin, on January 14th, 2021 would have felt the same way. In the match between the Otago Women and the Wellington Women, an incident took place where a young fan was hit by one of Devine’s blistering sixes. However, the gesture from Devine after the game is something that the girl will never forget.

Sophie Devine absolutely went berserk at Dunedin, ripping apart the Otago bowling attack. She scored a sensational 38-ball 108, the fastest century in the history of women’s T20 cricket. Her knock was studded with 9 fours and 9 sixes, as the Wellington side cantered home with all 10 wickets to spare, chasing down the target of 129 in just 8.4 overs.

However, the six that she hit to bring up her hundred landed straight on the head of a girl who was seated in the crowd. As soon as the match was wrapped up, Devine hurried up to the girl, and immediately checked on her wellbeing. The girl seemed to be perfectly ok.

Also, Devine gave away some cricketing gear to the young fan as well and even took a selfie. That would have surely made the day for the young girl, as Devine showed her human side to the fan. Also, it was a spontaneous action that would have won the hearts of the crowd as well.

This is not the first time that such an incident is taking place

Also, this is not the first time that a cricketer has gone and offered some solace to a fan who was hurt. In the 2012 edition of the Indian Premier League(IPL), Chris Gayle did a similar thing. In his blistering knock of 81 off just 48 balls against the Pune Warriors outfit, the big left-hander smashed Rahul Sharma into the crowd.

However, the cherry went and hit an 11-year-old girl named Tina Bhatia right on the nose. Bhatia was immediately rushed to the hospital after she suffered some bleeding. However, she had a massive surprise awaiting her. The Royal Challengers Bangalore opener immediately went to the hospital to check on the girl, and even gave away the medal that he had received for smashing the most sixes in the game. The girl had reportedly given the thumbs up to Gayle and stated that she was doing perfectly ok.

Gestures like these from the cricketers win them a lot of admiration. Just like the gesture from Gayle nine years back, just like the gesture from Devine yesterday.
