The veteran wicketkeeper-batsman, who made his commentary debut during the World Test Championship final, has been entertaining fans with his witty and hilarious comments. Australian pacer and Karthik’s Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) teammate Pat Cummins was also among many to comment on the picture. He cheekily asked Karthik how many suitcases the veteran carried to England for his commentary stint. “How many suitcases did you pack?!?!!” he wrote in the comment section.

Dinesh Karthik’s cheeky comment leaves fans in splits

Responding to Cummins’ remarks, Karthik sportingly trolled himself. “@patcummins30 well, let’s just say, a little more than the runs I score,” he replied. The KKR star’s remarks left the fans in splits as many again hailed his great sense of humour. For the unversed, the 36-year-old hasn’t done well in his recent assignments. His performance in the last couple of Indian Premier League (IPL) seasons hasn’t been great either.

In the now-postponed IPL 2021, Karthik scored mere 123 runs in seven games. As a result, KKR lost five of their first seven games and were seventh in the team standings at the time of season suspension. Nevertheless, the gala competition will resume on September and Karthik will have a point to prove. Notably, the Tamil Nadu-born cricketer has expressed desires of featuring in this year’s T20 World Cup.

Hence, he needs to put up some exceptional performances in the UAE to come in the selectors’ radar. His form will also be critical to KKR’s chances of thriving in the competition. Notably, the two-time champions need six wins in their remaining seven games to make a place in the playoffs without any hassle. Moreover, Cummins isn’t likely to feature in the remaining matches. Hence, it would be interesting to see whether Eoin Morgan’s men will change their fortunes or continue to struggle.
