Preview
Abu Dhabi will lock horns with Emirates Blues in the 12th match of the Emirates D50 2023 at the Malek Cricket Stadium 2 in Abu Dhabi on May 10. Abu Dhabi have played three matches and are yet to win any in this tournament. They are languishing at the bottom of the table. Emirates Blues, on the other hand, have played and lost four matches and are placed at the fifth place in the standings.
Abu Dhabi had played against Sharjah in their last encounter where Sharjah won the toss and elected to bowl. Abu Dhabi started well with an opening partnership of 53 runs. This was further made better by batters who followed next. A string of good partnerships helped the team post a good total of 292 runs at the loss of six wickets. Abu Dhabi batters had a good day on field but the day was further better for Sharjah batters who were in no mood to lose the match. They scored at a much faster rate than required and chased down the score with more than seven overs to spare. Sharjah won the match by six wickets easily.
Emirates squared off against Ajman in their last match where the toss was won by Emirates Blues and they elected to bat. Emirates did not start well as they lost their first wicket in the very first over but did not look back from that point. A stellar partnership of 131 runs for the second wicket brought them back into the game and then a series of good partnerships placed them into a good space. However, they could not finish the way they would have expected and wanted to, but posted a strong total of 316 runs. Ajman lost their opener on a low score as well, but a determined century from Rahul Chopra meant Ajman took the game away in the very last over of the game where they won the match by four wickets.
