Preview

Afghanistan will take on South Africa in the third match of the ICC Champions Trophy. This match will be played at National Stadium in Karachi. Champions Trophy 2025 will be held from 19 February to 9 March 2025 and will be contested by the top eight ranked men's national teams. Group A includes Pakistan, India, and New Zealand. At the same time, Group B includes Australia, England, Afghanistan, and South Africa.

Each team has only 3 games and it is virtual knockout cricket so expect Champions Trophy 2025 to be a high-pressure and well-contested event. South Africa and Afghanistan have faced each other in 5 matches in ODI. Out of these 5 games, South Africa have won 3 whereas Afghanistan have come out victorious on 2 occasions. Shahidi will lead Afghanistan team while Bavuma will captain the South African side.
South Africa have done well in the ICC events recently reaching semis of the CWC 2023 in India and the Final of the WT20 2024. They lost on both occassions and will be keen to go one step further in this CT. Afghanistan have improved a lot and did extremely well in the 50 over World Cup in 2023. They will be looking to surpise a few teams in conditions which could suit them. This promises to be a closely fought game.
