Sri Lanka and Afghanistan will play the match of 1 Super Four stage of the Asia Cup 2022 on Saturday (September 3) at the Sharjah Cricket Stadium. Sri Lanka defeated Bangladesh in their last game by 2 wickets after chasing a target of 184 runs in the last over. With this win, Sri Lanka managed to eliminate Bangladesh from the tournament. Sri Lanka played their first game against Afghanistan and lost that game by 8 wickets. They were never in the same and were completely outplayed by Afghanistan in all departments. Afghanistan went on to beat Bangladesh in their next game to finish in the first position in Group B.
Afghanistan’s spinners had a great outing against Bangladesh as the duo of Mujeeb-ur-Rahman and Rashid Khan shared six wickets among themselves. Afghanistan’s middle order showed up after the failure of the top order and took the team home. They have been in great form in all the departments and will be hoping for a similar result to that of the first game. Sri Lanka will have to play out of their skin to have a slight chance in this game.
