Preview
Australia will be up against Pakistan in the 18th match of the ICC Cricket World Cup at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru on October 20. Australia have not really arrived at the tournament, winning just one game of the three they have played so far. Pakistan, on the other hand, has been decent, with two wins from three matches. They are placed seventh and fourth respectively in the points table.
Australia played against Sri Lanka in their last match, where Sri Lanka won the toss and elected to bat. They were off to a fantastic start as both their openers looked to be in great touch, amassing 125 runs for the first wicket. Both the openers notched up their fifties, but as soon as they fell, the entire team fell one after the other, being bowled out for just 209. Australia seemed to fumble even in this small target at the start. They lost two wickets early but was followed by good partnerships later on and eventually won the match by five wickets.
Pakistan squared off against India in their last match, where India won the toss and elected to field. Pakistan actually started well with a solid opening partnership and then an 82-run stand for the third wicket, but after the fall of the third wicket, they folded up like a house of cards. The whole team was bowled out for a petty total of 191, which was made to look smaller from the massacre by Rohit Sharma. He smashed every bowler around but, unfortunately missed out on his well-deserved century. India won the match emphatically by seven wickets.
