Preview

Australia will take on Pakistan in the first ODI of the three-match series on Monday, November 4, at the Melbourne Cricket Ground in Melbourne. The second and the third match will be played in Adelaide and Perth, respectively. A three-match T20I series is scheduled to be played just after the completion of the T20I series. Pakistan will travel to Zimbabwe after the completion of this tour and will play a three-match ODI and T20I series each. Australia will take on India in the Border-Gavaskar Trophy after this series.

Pat Cummins will lead the Australian side in the ODI series and will be playing his first ODI game since leading the side to win the ODI World Cup last year. The pace trio of Cummins, Josh Hazlewood, and Mitchell Starc will be in action for the first time since the final. Travis Head and Mitchell Marsh have not been named in the squad. Jake Fraser-McGurk and Matthew Short are the two openers in the team. Most of the players who were a part of the team that toured England in September have retained their places in the squad. Australia won the five-match series 3-2 against England.

Mohammad Rizwan has been appointed the permanent captain white-ball captain of the Pakistan side. He will replace Babar Azam who announced his relinquishment recently. It will also be the first tour for Jason Gillespie as the head coach of the team. Gillespie has replaced Gary Kirsten as the head coach of the team. A total of six uncapped players have been named in the squad for the ODI and T20I series. Agha Salman has been named as the vice-captain of the side.
