Australia will take on Bangladesh in the 8th game of the Women's T20 World Cup 2023 on Tuesday (February 14) at St George's Park in Gqeberha. Australia defeated New Zealand in their first game by a significant margin of 97 runs after posting a total of 173 runs for the loss of nine wickets in 20 overs. Alyssa Healy, Meg Lanning, and Ellyse Perry starred with the bat for Australia. Healy made a half-century and has now scored the joint-highest number of 50+ scores in the Women's T20 World Cup. Ashleigh Gardner was the pick of the bowlers, and she became only the second Australian bowler to pick a fifer in the tournament's history. Gardner also won the Player of the Match award for this performance.
Bangladesh suffered a seven-wicket loss at the hands of Sri Lanka in their opening game. After winning the toss, Bangladesh opted to bat and posted a total of 126 runs for the loss of eight wickets. No batter managed to score more than 30 runs for the team. Marufa Akter picked three wickets for just 23 runs in four overs and bowled a maiden over as well. The bowlers did a decent job, but the target was not enough for them to defend. Bangladesh will have to deliver an all-round performance to stand a chance against the defending champions.
Both teams have faced each other only once in T20Is, which happened during the World Cup's last edition. Australia won that game by 86 runs after posting a total of 189 runs for the loss of just one wicket.
