Bahrain will lock horns with Kuwait in the 12th match of the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup Asia Qualifier at the Mulpani Cricket Ground in Kathmandu on November 2. Bahrain has won and lost a match in each of their two games so far and is placed second in the table of Group B. Kuwait, on the other hand, has lost both their games and is languishing at the bottom in Group B.
Bahrain squared off against Hong Kong in their last encounter where Hong Kong won the toss and elected to field. Being put to bat, Bahrain lost their captain in the very first over of the game which inflicted a domino effect on the team as they were tumbling for 73 on six. Their wicketkeeper, Imran Ali, took charge with his knock of 62 and took the team to a decent total of 146. Hong Kong had a similar run as their opponents but lacked someone who could take charge like Imran did for Bahrain. Hence they were bowled out for 126, losing the match by 20 runs.
Kuwait played against the United Arab Emirates in their last match where Kuwait won the toss and elected to bat. After a decent start, Kuwait’s inning went completely downhill as their batters did not waste much time on the crease. The lower order did try and protest a little due to which they could play the entire innings but could only reach 88. UAE started off their chase on a very good note, amassing 50 runs for their opening partnership in just five overs. They did lose a couple of wickets after that but they were always in command of the chase and won the match by five wickets with five overs to spare.
