Preview

Bangladesh will lock horns with Afghanistan in the second T20I match of the Afghanistan tour of Bangladesh at the Sylhet International Cricket Stadium in Sylhet on July 16. Afghanistan were the winner of the recently concluded ODI series between the two teams by a margin of 2-1, but Bangladesh managed to turn the tide and win the first T20I match of the series. Will Afghanistan cover up and win this match to equalise the series?

Both the teams squared off against each other in the last match, which was played at the same venue where Bangladesh had won the toss and elected to field. Being put to bat did not work out well for Afghanistan as their top order failed, and they lost four wickets at the score of 52. That is when Mohammad Nabi, the experienced all-rounder of the team, took matters into his own hands and scored a fantastic fifty. He got some aid from Najibullah Zadran and Azmatullah Omarzai, so they managed to score 154 runs after the end of the first innings.

Bangladesh had not started too well and too differently from their opponents. Every batter in their top order got starts, but none of them were able to convert those starts into bigger totals and threw their wickets away. Towhid Hridoy and Shamim Hossain took charge in the middle overs and scored the majority of runs. After Hossain fell, the match got very interesting as Karim Janat took a hat-trick to put the match in their kitty. But a final over drama and a display of nerves of steel by Hridoy meant Bangladesh had won the match by two wickets in a very closely fought game.
