Bangladesh will take on England in the 1st T20I of the England Tour of Bangladesh on Thursday (March 9) at the Zahur Ahmed Chowdhury Stadium in Chattogram. Both these teams went on ahead against each other in the recently concluded ODI series of the England Tour of Bangladesh. England emerged victorious after the end of the series 2-1. Keeping the momentum in mind, England seem to be the favourites to win this match and series as well.
Bangladesh faced Pakistan in their last T20I game where Bangladesh had won the toss and had elected to bat. Bangladesh started off well but soon lost their way as they kept losing regular wickets. Their opener, Najmul Hossain Shanto, was the top scorer having smashed a helpful half century, but only four of their batters could make it to a score in double digits. Pakistan were set a target of 128 runs owing to great bowling efforts from their bowlers. They started slow as well but steadily marched forward and chased the target with 11 balls to spare. Bangladesh lost the match by five wickets.
England squared off against Pakistan in their last encounter as well where England won the toss and elected to field. Pakistan started off slow but kept their scoreboard ticking. Only four of their batters got a start but none of them could make it to a large total. As a result, Pakistan could only muster 137 runs at the loss of eight wickets at the end of the first innings. England could not start well too but Ben Stokes held one end and took them over eventually. England won the match by five wickets with six balls to spare where Sam Curran was adjudged Player of the Match for his brilliant bowling spell.
