Royal Challengers Bangalore Women (BAN-W) will face Gujarat Giants in the sixth match of the Women’s Premier League 2024 on Tuesday (February 27) at the M. Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru. This will be the second game of the season for both teams.
Royal Challengers faced UP Warriorz in their first match, where the Warriorz elected to bowl after winning the toss. Royal Challengers scored 157 runs for the loss of six wickets in 20 overs. Sabbhineni Meghana and Richa Ghosh scored a half-century each for the team. Ghosh was the highest scorer and made 62 runs off 37 deliveries. The Warrioz could make only 155 runs for the loss of seven wickets at the end of the 20th-over mark and lost the match by a mere margin of two runs. Asha Sobhana became the first-ever Indian bowler to take a fifer in WPL and won the Player of the Match award.
The Giants faced Mumbai Indians Women in their last game, where Mumbai Indians won the toss and elected to bowl. The Giants could post a total of 126 runs for the loss of nine wickets in 20 overs. None of the batters managed to make more than 30 runs for the team. Mumbai Indians reached the target of 127 runs in 18.1 overs and won the match by five wickets. Tanuja Kanwar was the pick of the bowlers for the Giants and took two wickets for 21 runs in four overs.
