Preview
Bangladesh Women will lock horns with India Women in the 2nd ODI match of the India Women Tour of Bangladesh at the Sher-e-Bangla National Stadium in Mirpur on July 19. Both the teams played a T20I series prior to this ODI series, where India emerged victorious by a margin of 2-1. However, in the last match, the first ODI of the series, Bangladesh won and gained the lead.
The last match between these two teams was played at the same venue where India had won the toss and had elected to bowl. Even before the match could start, it was raided by the rains, so the match was shortened and reduced to 44 overs a side. Bangladesh did not start too well but had decent partnerships from the middle order. A few of their batters got starts, but none of them could convert those into bigger totals. They were able to muster 152 runs on the board.
India would not have expected this to be a challenging total, but due to the slow nature of the pitch and further effects on it due to the rain, it got worse. Indian batters did not start well as they lacked good partnerships. Almost every batter from the Indian camp got starts and had double-digit scores, but none of them could take it forward. As a result, they were bundled out for just 113 runs, and in a historical event, Bangladesh managed to defeat India by a margin of 40 runs. The Indian team would be itching to get back at their opponents and equalise the scores.
