The second One Day International (ODI) between Bangladesh Women and Pakistan Women is set to take place on Tuesday, November 7, at the Shere Bangla National Stadium in Dhaka.
In the opening match of the three-game series, Pakistan seized control with a convincing five-wicket victory over Bangladesh. Bangladesh, choosing to bat first after winning the toss, faced a challenging situation, managing just 81 runs before being dismissed in 31.5 overs. The batting performance was lackluster, with only three batters reaching double digits, and none of them managing to score over 20 runs.
Pakistan's Sadia Iqbal, a 28-year-old spinner, delivered an outstanding performance, achieving her best bowling figures in ODIs by taking four wickets for just 13 runs in nine overs. Umm-e-Hani also excelled, securing her best ODI bowling performance with three wickets for 20 runs. Captain Nida Dar contributed significantly, capturing three wickets while conceding only 10 runs in six overs.
Despite the wobbly start to their chase, Pakistan successfully overcame the target, losing five wickets along the way. Nida Dar's vital unbeaten 35 runs from 59 deliveries played a crucial role in securing the win, earning her the Player of the Match award.
This victory marked Pakistan's first ODI win against Bangladesh since November 2019. Pakistan aims to establish an unassailable lead in the series with a win in this game. Meanwhile, Bangladesh, having secured the three-match T20I series last month, will look to draw inspiration from their prior success.
