Preview

Baroda will lock horns with Bengal in the 29th match of the Vijay Hazare Trophy 2023 at the Brabourne Stadium in Mumbai on November 25. Both these teams have played one match each so far and have won that game. They are both placed third and first in the rankings of Group E, respectively.

Baroda squared off against Punjab in their last match where Punjab won the toss and elected to field. Being put to bat on a slow deck, Baroda did not start well, losing two wickets at just 12 runs, but then they had a couple of good partnerships to bring them back. They kept losing wickets, due to which they could not increase their scoring rate but they were able to put up a decent total of 214 runs. Punjab started decently but lost wickets in a bunch, which put them into a risky situation. Late flourish with the bat from Siddharth Kaul and Harpreet Brar did pose a threat for Baroda, but in a close call of a match, Baroda won the game by three runs.

Bengal had played against Nagaland in their last encounter, where Bengal won the toss and elected to bat. Nagaland started decently and was in not too bad of position having scored 100 runs at the loss of three wickets. But the fall of the fourth wicket gave rise to a domino effect, and batters kept tumbling one after the other. They were bundled together for a mere total of  139 runs. Bengal started the chase aggressively, not wanting to waste any time. They lost one wicket in the process, but unbeaten fifties from Abhimanyu Easwaran and Sudip Gharami meant they won the game by nine wickets with 31 overs to spare.
