Central Stags will lock horns with Canterbury Kings in the 9th match of the Super Smash 2023 at Pukekura Park in New Plymouth on December 30. Otago Volts has played two games so far where they are yet to win any and are placed fifth in the standing. Wellington Firebirds, on the other hand, has won one of their two games and is at the top of the table.

Central Stags had played against Northern Districts in their last encounter where Northern Districts won the toss and elected to field. Stags did not particularly have a great start, losing two wickets early in the game. The middle order performed better than the top order and the scoring rate was fled higher, especially with the sensational knock of Doug Bracewell. A grand target of 207 to the Northern Districts required a good start, but they could not get so. They kept losing wickets at regular intervals and so eventually lost the game by 56 runs.

Canterbury Kings squared off against Otago Volts in their last match where Otago Volts won the toss and elected to field. Canterbury started the innings and had scored two runs off three balls so far when rain interrupted the match. Due to excessive and persistent rain, the match could not be carried forward, and it ended in a draw.
