Preview
City Cricket Club will lock horns with Ankurjyoti Club in the 2nd Semifinal match of the GSA T20 Champions Trophy at the Amingaon Cricket Ground in Guwahati on January 2. City Cricket Club finished top of the table after the end of the league stage with four wins from five matches. Ankurjyoti Club, on the other hand, could only win two games from five matches and finished in fourth place.
Both these teams had squared off against each other in their last encounter which was held at the same venue where City Cricket Club had won the toss and elected to bat. Proving the decision was the opener, Hrishikesh Tamuli, who went on to play a fantastic knock of 73 runs off 52 balls. They had a decent opening pair and kept on adding decent partnerships one after the other. However, Hrishikesh did not receive much support from the other end and there was no other high-scoring player but they were still able to score 153 runs.
Ankurjyoti Club, in reply, were slow and lousy in their approach right from the start. Their opening stand lasted for just nine runs. They were losing wickets one after the other and soon enough were reduced to 20 at the loss of five wickets. A good partnership worth 53 runs was followed for the sixth wicket which saved the face for them. The defeat was evident but this partnership took them to a respectable total of 103 runs and City Cricket Club won the game easily by 50 runs.
