Preview
Delhi Capitals will take on the UP Warriorz in the fifth game of the Women's Premier League 2023 on Tuesday (March 6) at the Dr DY Patil Sports Academy in Navi Mumbai. Both teams will be walking into this game after winning their previous bouts. The Capitals defeated the Royal Challengers Bangalore in their first game by a margin of 60 runs after posting a total of 223 runs for the loss of two wickets. Meg Lanning and Shafali Verma added 162 runs for the first wicket. Marizanne Kapp and Jemimah Rodrigues continued the show after the openers were dismissed. Tara Norris was the pick of the bowlers as she became the first bowler to take a fifer in WPL. Norris, a left-arm pacer from the United States of America, picked five wickets for 29 runs and clinched the Player of the Match award.
The Warriorz won their first game against the Gujarat Giants by three wickets on the penultimate delivery after chasing the target of 170 runs. The Giants made 169 runs for the loss of six wickets while batting first. In reply, the Warriorz lost three wickets inside the powerplay, and it looked like the Giants might also dominate with the ball. However, Kiran Navgire and Grace Harris had different plans. They both scored half-centuries and helped the team bounce back quickly. Harris scored 59 runs off 26 deliveries and won the Player of the Match award.
