The Vipers became the first team to qualify for the playoffs this season after winning their previous game against the Sharjah Warriors by 22 runs. They posted a total of 148 runs on the board with a collective effort of the batting unit. Wanindu Hasaranga and Luke Wood made this mere total a massive task for the Warriors with their three-wicket haul each. Hasaranga, mainly, was the pick of the bowlers for the Vipers as he returned with a figure of three for 13. This win helped the Vipers jump to first place in the points table with 12 points from eight games.

On the other hand, the Capitals have accumulated seven points after winning three out of eight games so far. They are currently in the second-last place in the points table. They have a very slight chance of making it to the final four, and a lot of results will have to go their way for them to finish in the fourth position in the points table. Considering their recent records, it will nearly be impossible for the Capitals to overpower the Vipers, who have already defeated them once this season.
