Preview
Emirates Red will lock horns with Ajman in the 13th match of the Emirates D10 2023 at the Malek Cricket Stadium in Abu Dhabi on May 25. Emirates Red have played four matches where they have won and lost two matches each. They are placed in the fourth position in the standings. Ajman, on the other hand, have played three where they have been able to win just one and are sixth in the rankings.
Emirates Red played against Abu Dhabi in their last encounter, where Abu Dhabi won the toss and elected to bowl. Being put to bat first, Emirates started well, scoring 42 runs for their opening partnership within four overs. However, they went off-road from there, losing three wickets in the next four runs. The scoring rate also came down due to this, and it seemed they would get to a below-par total, but a late flourish down the order pushed them to a total of 108 runs at the loss of five wickets. Even this total seemed too little for the in-form batters of Abu Dhabi, as they lost just one wicket and chased down the total within seven overs. Hence, Abu Dhabi won the match easily by nine wickets.
Ajman had played against Dubai in their last encounter, where Ajman won the toss and elected to bowl. On a slow pitch, Dubai actually started pretty well with a good scoring rate, although losing wickets at regular intervals. Farooq Mohammed played brilliant innings down the order, which helped the team get to an above-average total of 106 runs at the expense of seven wickets at the end of the first innings. Ajman lost an early wicket in their chase, but a good second-wicket partnership steadied their chase. However, wickets started to flow once the partnership broke, and even a good cameo by Sameer Chand could not save them. Dubai won the match in the end by eight runs.
