Preview
England will be up against New Zealand in the 2nd T20I match of the New Zealand Tour of England at Old Trafford in Manchester on September 1. The first match between the two teams was played at the Riverside Ground in Chester-le-Street, where England won the toss and elected to field. Being put to bat, New Zealand started decently initially but soon lost their first wicket. In the process of scoring 25 runs further, they lost three of their wickets, which put them in a difficult position. Glenn Phillips then took the lead and scored some crucial runs for them. With some handy contributions from the lower order, they were able to post 139 runs on the board.
Johnny Bairstow played a beautiful shot on the first ball of the innings, but to a rash shot on the second ball, he lost his wicket. England did not mind the wicket and continued to play their aggressive game. Will Jacks and Dawid Malan stitched together 57 runs for the second wicket partnership, and this partnership was followed by another good one between Dawid Malan and Harry Brook for the fourth wicket. England quickly chased down the total and won the match by seven wickets with six overs to spare.
