Preview
England Women will lock horns with India Women in the 14th match of Group 2 of the ICC Women’s World Cup at St George’s Park in Gqeberha on February 18. England have won both their games and seem to be in brilliant form. They are placed at the top of the table in Group 2. India have won both their matches, too, but due to less net run rate than their current opponent, they are placed in second position in Group 2.
England played their last game against Ireland, where they lost the toss and were put to field. Ireland couldn’t bat as they might have planned and could only manage to score 105 before losing all their wickets. Ecclestone and Glenn scalped three wickets each for England. When returning to bat, England lost a few early wickets, but Capsey’s brilliant half-century ensured the match was not going anywhere. England eventually won by four wickets with 34 balls to spare.
India played their last match against West Indies, where they lost the toss and were put to bowl. West Indies could only score 118 for the loss of six wickets. Deepti Sharma was the best-performing bowler for India, scalping three wickets. India did well with the bat as well and chased down the score with 11 balls to spare and six wickets in hand.
