Preview
England XI will lock horns with Switzerland in the first game of Group E in the European Cricket Championship at the Cartama Oval in Cartama on October 9. Both teams will be looking forward to making a good start to the tournament.
England XI had played off against Netherlands XI in their last match, where England XI won the toss and elected to bat. They did not start too well; however, after losing the first wicket, they upped their scoring rate but could not prevent wickets from falling regularly. None of the batters could score big, but the team was able to muster 99 runs by the end of the innings. Netherlands XI did not start too well, losing two wickets early, but had a couple of good knocks played by the middle order, which won them the match by four wickets.
Switzerland had played off against France in their last encounter, where Switzerland won the toss and elected to bat. They lost a wicket early but had a brilliant second-wicket partnership where Hasan Ahmed brought up his half-century. Osama Mahmood, in the middle, played a fiery knock as well, taking the team to a huge total of 143 runs. France, in reply, had a sensational second-wicket partnership, and it looked like the match would be over soon, but as soon as the partnership broke, they fumbled and fell short of the target by eight runs.
