Hong Kong Women will face Nepal Women in the fourth match of the Hong Kong Women's T20I Series 2023 on Thursday (November 16) at the Mission Road Ground in Mong Kok.
It will be the fourth T20I match between the two teams. Hong Kong have won two, while Nepal have been victorious once so far in head to head matches.
Nepal played their first game of the series against Tanzania. Tanzania chose to bat after winning the toss and saw contributions from Hudaa Omary and Aisha Mohamed, both scoring 20-plus runs. They posted a total of 115 runs for the loss of seven wickets. Sangita Rai excelled for Nepal, taking two wickets for 16 runs in three overs.
Sita Rana Magar displayed focus, scoring 43 runs off 31 deliveries for Nepal. Unfortunately, lacking support from other batters, Nepal were eventually bundled out for 88 runs in 16.5 overs. Sophia Frank-Jerome's outstanding bowling performance, securing three wickets for three runs in 2.5 overs, earned her the Player of the Match award.
Hong Kong took on Japan in their first game and elected to bowl after winning the toss. Japan witnessed a standout performance from the skipper, Mai Yanagida, who contributed 32 runs off 46 deliveries. However, with no other batter reaching double figures, Japan struggled to a total of only 78 runs in 19.5 overs.
Hong Kong's Kary Chan shone with a remarkable five-wicket haul, conceding just 10 runs in her 2.5 overs. This marked her third five-wicket haul in T20Is. Iqra Sahar also played a pivotal role, securing three wickets for 10 runs in four overs, while Mariko Hill contributed with one wicket, giving away just seven runs in her four-over spell.
Hong Kong's openers, Mariko Hill and Natasha Miles, established a solid partnership of 72 runs for the first wicket. Hong Kong comfortably secured victory, chasing down the target in just 10.4 overs with nine wickets in hand. Hill top-scored with 40 runs off 32 deliveries. Shrunali Ranade was the lone wicket-taker for Japan.
