Preview
India will be up against Afghanistan in the 9th match of the ICC Cricket World Cup at the Arun Jaitley Stadium in Delhi on October 11. India started their journey on a fantastic note, winning their first match by a good margin over Australia, while Afghanistan could not play well and lost their last game. They are placed in 5th and 7th position in the rankings, respectively.
India squared off against Australia in their last match, where Australia won the toss and elected to bat. They lost a wicket early but had a brilliant partnership for the second wicket to give Australia a good start. However, as soon as the Indian spinners were introduced, they wrapped up their batting line-up, restricting them to just 199. India had a horrible start in reply, where they had lost three wickets at just two runs. The pair of Rahul and Kohli worked hard to take India out of the storm and won the match by six wickets.
Afghanistan played against Bangladesh in their last match, where Bangladesh won the toss and elected to field. Afghanistan started off on a good note, scoring 47 runs for their opening partnership. Several of their batters got starts, but unfortunately, none could carry on to make a bigger total, resulting in a total of just 156 runs. Bangladesh did lose a couple of early wickets but had no problems whatsoever due to a 97-run stand between Mehidy Miraz and Najmul Shanto. They won the match easily by six wickets as well.
