Preview
India will be up against Bangladesh in the 2nd Semifinal match of the Asian Games at the Zhejiang University of Technology Cricket Field in Hangzhou on October 6. Both these teams have played some good cricket in the recent past and would be coming to this match with a positive momentum. India would still be starting the match as favorites to reach the finals.
India played against Nepal in their last match, where India won the toss and elected to bat. The decision to bat was immediately proven correct by the opening pair of Ruturaj and Yashashvi when they amassed 103 runs for their opening partnership. Jaiswal was the chief destroyer with his century while he was aided by some great match-finishing knocks, due to which they put up a huge total of 202 runs. Nepal did try to chase the total down and were scoring at a good rate, but kept losing wickets regularly, which hurt them at the end, and they eventually lost the match by 23 runs.
Bangladesh had squared off against Malaysia in their last match, where Bangladesh won the toss and elected to bat. What happened later was definitely not something they would have expected as Malaysia made a firing start, scalping three Bangladeshi wickets at just three runs. When it looked grim, their skipper stood tall and took the team’s total to 116 runs. Malaysia did not start too well with the chase, but a sensational knock in the middle by Virandeep Singh took them extremely close, but they could not clinch it as they lost the match by just two runs.
