India will be up against Nepal in the 5th match of the Asia Cup 2023 at the Pallekele International Cricket Stadium in Kandy on September 4. India last played against Pakistan, which could not be completed due to the rain and ended in no result. Nepal, on the other hand, had played against Pakistan in their last match, where they lost the game.
India had squared off against Pakistan in their last match, where India won the toss and elected to bat. Indian innings had a decent start but was interrupted by the rain. The break worked wonders for Pakistan as they scalped three wickets quickly after it, including the likes of Rohit, Kohli and Iyer. Gill was taken away by Rauf soon, and India looked in trouble, but the pair of Ishan Kishan and Hardik Pandya not only steadied the ship but put them in the driving position. India finished with 266 runs on board, but the second innings could not resume due to rain, so the match ended with no result.
Nepal had squared off against Pakistan in their last encounter, where Pakistan won the toss, and they elected to bat. Against a timid Nepal, Pakistan did not let go to score as many as they could. After losing their openers cheaply, Babar, Rizwan, and then Iftikhar punished every bowler that came in front of them as Pakistan finished with 342 on board. Nepal were never in the chase as they kept losing wickets and were easily bowled out for 104. Pakistan made a statement with a bossing win by 238 runs in the first match of the Asia Cup.
