Preview
India will be up against Pakistan in the 12th match of the ICC Cricket World Cup at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad on October 14. India have been doing great in this World Cup so far, winning both matches they have played, while Pakistan have had a similar run as well. They are placed in second and third places in the points table, respectively.
India played against Afghanistan in their last match, where Afghanistan won the toss and elected to bat. They started decently, although they lost a couple of wickets in quick succession. The pair of Shahidi and Omarzai added 101 runs, which made it look like they would be reaching a huge total, but Bumrah came back to stop them at 272. Rohit went berserk right from the start in the chase as he slammed 131 off just 84 balls. He was accompanied well by others, and India won the match emphatically by eight wickets with 15 overs to spare.
Pakistan squared off against Sri Lanka in their last match, where Sri Lanka won the toss and elected to bat. They lost an early wicket but had two-century stands for the second and third wickets, respectively, which not only brought them back in the game but put them up ahead in the driver’s seat. They set a huge target of 345 in reply, of which Pakistan lost two wickets early and looked in trouble when the pair of Shafique and Rizwan added 176 runs. Fantastic finishing touches meant Pakistan chased a record total and won the match by six wickets.
