India Women will take on Australia Women in the second T20I of the three-match series on Sunday (January 7) at the Dr DY Patil Sports Academy in Navi Mumbai. India won the toss and elected to bowl in the first match.
Australia had a terrible start to their innings and lost four wickets for just 33 runs. Phoebe Litchfield and Ellyse Perry added 79 runs for the fifth wicket and helped Australia cross the 100-run mark. Australia lost their last four wickets for just six runs and were bundled out for 141 runs in 19.2 overs.
Titas Sadhu was the pick of the bowlers and took four wickets for 17 runs in four overs. Shreyanka Patil and Deepti Sharma picked two wickets each, while Renuka Singh and Amanjot Kaur picked one wicket apiece.
Smriti Mandhana and Shafali Varma provided a solid start to India and added 137 runs for the first wicket. India chased down the target of 142 runs in 17.4 overs with nine wickets in hand. Mandhana scored 54 runs off 52 deliveries, while Shafali remained unbeaten on 64 runs off 44 deliveries. Titas won the Player of the Match award for her bowling performance.
